TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taichung Tourism and Travel Bureau and Hwafu Tourism Group will launch a double-decker sightseeing bus service on April 1.
The bus will feature 40 open-air seats and audio guides in Mandarin, English, Japanese, and Korean. Daily departures from Taichung Train Station are scheduled for 3 p.m., 5 p.m., and 8 p.m., with return trips from Feng Chia Night Market at 4 p.m., 7 p.m., and 9 p.m., per CNA.
The city government said the bus will stop at Taichung Park, Taichung Prefecture Hall, Liuchuan Waterfront Scenic Walk, Calligraphy Greenway, National Taichung Theater, and Taichung Maple Garden. Passengers can explore the city’s old and new districts and enjoy sights by day and night.
The bus ticket is priced at NT$100 (US$3.02). From April to May, passengers who purchase a NT$300 four-hour ticket will have a chance to receive travel vouchers worth NT$3,500. The vouchers include discounts at popular city restaurants such as Umai Yakiniku, UmaiShabu, and Kim Korean Cuisine.
In addition to online ticket sales, starting in April, physical tickets for the sightseeing bus will also be available at the departure and arrival stations, as well as at Le Meridien Taichung, In Sky Hotel, and In One City Inn, the city government added.
Taichung’s double-decker sightseeing bus began trial operations in December, with about six trips per day. City residents can ride for NT$50 with their identification cards.
Taipei’s double-decker sightseeing bus offers unlimited rides for NT$300 over four hours and also provides audio guides in Mandarin, English, Japanese, and Korean. The route includes red and blue lines, with stops at popular city landmarks such as Taipei 101, Xingtian Temple, Ximending, and the National Palace Museum.
