TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Foxconn subsidiary Ingrasys announced Monday a NT$4.7 billion (US$142 million) investment to acquire land and facilities in Houston, Texas.
Foxconn explained that the purchase is based on operational needs, per UDN. It includes 86.34 acres (34.9 hectares) of land and a facility spanning approximately 1.01 million square feet.
Industry sources that the investment is mainly to expand AI server production capacity, but it may not be related to Apple’s project in the area, per CNA. Ingrasys may first serve North American AI server clients other than Apple, they added.
Foxconn previously said it is adjusting high-end AI server production capacity across its global operations, including in Taiwan, the US, Mexico, and Vietnam. In January, Ingrasys announced a NT$4.2 billion investment to buy land and facilities in Sunnyvale, California.
Regarding AI server revenue this year, Foxconn estimates it will surpass NT$1 trillion, accounting for 50% of its total server revenue, with an overall AI server market share exceeding 40%.
Meanwhile, Apple announced last month it will work with Foxconn to build a 250,000-square meter facility in Houston, per Reuters. The factory will make servers to power Apple Intelligence, the company’s AI suite.
