TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – The National Immigration Agency has ordered two Chinese influencers to leave the country because they supported threats of military force against Taiwan, reports said Friday.
Following an investigation into repeated statements by the women named Enqi (恩綺) and Xiaowei (小微), the NIA decided to revoke their residence permits based on marriage to Taiwan nationals, the Liberty Times reported. The decision means they have to leave Taiwan.
Another Chinese spouse, Liu Zhenya (劉振亞), faces a Monday deadline to leave the country because of similar statements in support of Chinese military action to annex Taiwan. If she does not leave of her own accord, she will be forcibly expelled, reports said.
The NIA said it interviewed Xiaowei about videos she posted online. Following consultation with the Mainland Affairs Council, the agency decided to revoke her residency permit. In addition, Xiaowei is barred from applying for a new permit based on marriage for five years.
Enqi reportedly posted praise for China’s People’s Liberation Army and support for Beijing’s stance that Taiwan was an inalienable part of the communist country. The agency reacted by revoking her residency permit and demanding she leave the country.
