TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Japan’s Mitsui Fudosan expects its Mitsui Shopping Park LaLaport Nangang, which opened Thursday, to generate NT$10 billion (US$303 million) in annual revenue once fully operational.
The shopping mall in Taipei follows the 2023 debut of LaLaport Taichung, Taiwan's first Lalaport. LaLaport Nangang Manager Wu Cheng-ying (吳政穎) said the new mall will feature both popular chain brands and Japanese fashion brands debuting in Taiwan, per CNA.
More than 230 brands, accounting for 80% of retail spaces, have already opened. By May, over 95% of stores are expected to be operational, with full-scale operations set for the second half of next year.
The mall will feature about 300 stores, including VieShow Cinemas, Japanese supermarket Lopia, and children’s role-play facility KidZania. The food court will also introduce regional specialties from central and southern Taiwan, including Chiayi’s Smart Fish fish head casserole, making its first appearance in Taipei.
Located in a business district surrounded by office buildings, LaLaport Nangang is expected to benefit from a steady customer base. Its proximity to the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center, which hosts major trade shows annually, also addresses a longstanding shortage of dining options in the area, according to Mitsui Fudosan.
In 2024, LaLaport Taichung reported NT$7.9 billion in revenue, a 20% year-over-year increase. With more stores gradually opening at LaLaport Nangang, its revenue target is set at NT$10 billion, matching that of its Taichung counterpart.
