TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The CEO of CuboAi and Yunyun Technology has confessed to murdering his company’s chief technology officer, CNA reported Monday.
According to the report, 52-year-old Thomas Tseng (曾志新) admitted to killing the CTO, surnamed Liang (梁), and expressed regret for his actions. Tseng injured himself with a knife after the attack and was discharged from the hospital Monday morning.
Police took Tseng in for questioning, where he confessed to the crime. He allegedly fell out with Liang, suspecting him of leaking confidential business information and planning to start a competing company.
Authorities believe Tseng planned the attack in late February, placing a knife in his office in advance. After seeing Liang’s resignation message on March 6, in which Liang accused him of bullying, Tseng allegedly stabbed him the next day.
After questioning concluded around 5 p.m., police decided to keep Tseng in detention on suspicion of murder. The Taipei District Prosecutors Office will continue to question him in the coming days.
