TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – Two pilots who failed to follow procedures during a landing in the Philippines have left the company voluntarily, Starlux Airlines said Saturday.
On March 3, the pilots of flight JX789 from Taipei had to make a second attempt at landing at Clark International Airport, the Liberty Times reported. However, they did not follow the procedures required by the airline in such a case.
After a YouTuber spoke of an accident, Starlux issued a statement rejecting the claim. Making a second attempt at landing is a common practice and did not amount to an accident, the airline said.
Following an investigation, the two pilots decided to resign from the airline voluntarily, according to Starlux. The company added it had reported the incident to the Civil Aviation Administration.
Starlux emphasized it followed a policy of zero tolerance for safety incidents. Risk management was a top concern, with training being improved to guarantee the safety of travelers, the airline said.
