TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Continental Development Corporation CEO Liao Chun-sen (廖淳森) said the company will launch five major housing projects this year in Taipei, Taichung, and Hsinchu County.
The company expects the total sales value of its five housing projects to reach NT$39.33 billion (US$1.21 billion), per CNA.
Continental Holdings Corp., parent company of Continental Development Corp., held a press conference Thursday to outline its strategies for Taiwan's real estate market and provide updates on its two other subsidiaries, Continental Engineering Corp. and HDEC Corp.
Liao said the Taiwanese real estate market has experienced a downturn since September due to Central Bank credit control policies. He noted a slight recovery in market activity since January.
Liao expressed an optimistic outlook for Taiwan's real estate market this year. However, he said high construction costs and inflation could impact market demand.
The company will prioritize homes ranging from 30 to 50 ping (approximately 99 to 165 square meters), accounting for 79% of its housing projects this year, Liao said. Its new developments will continue to focus on the Greater Taipei, Taichung, Hsinchu, and Taoyuan.
Continental Holdings Corp. CEO Chang Fang-hsin (張方欣) said Continental Engineering Corp. achieved a record revenue of NT$129.8 billion last year. She highlighted the company secured major government contracts, including urban renewal and social housing projects in Taipei Nangang District, the Taoyuan railway underground project, and the Taipei MRT Circular Line project.
HDEC Corp. reported a revenue of NT$64.7 billion last year, Chang said. The company began construction on a recycled water plant in Kaohsiung Ciaotou District in 2023, which is expected to supply 35,000 tonnes of water daily to TSMC starting next year.
The company secured a contract in July for the construction of a wastewater treatment plant at the Southern Taiwan Science Park's Chiayi campus. It is expected to process 15,000 tonnes of wastewater daily.
The company also secured the furnace upgrade project at the Tainan Annan District waste incineration plant. It is set to process more than 295,000 tonnes of waste annually and generate an estimated 260 million kilowatt-hours of electricity per year.
