TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Semiconductor tester ASE signed a memorandum of understanding with Ainos to install its AI-powered gas detection system at its facilities on Wednesday.
Semiconductor production and testing require an ultra-clean environment and atomic-level precision. ASE said the technology can detect subtle gas variations in production, identifying early signs of wear and contamination, per CNA.
It allows the company to detect gas leaks or pollutants before they become a major risk, ASE explained. The technology will be implemented in the company’s 46 fully automated factories.
Meanwhile, ASE announced Monday that its February revenue was NT$44.96 billion (US$1.36 billion), down 9.07% month-on-month but up 13.11% year-on-year, CNA reported. Of this, revenue from packaging, testing, and materials was NT$27.33 billion, down 2.9% month-on-month but up 17.3% year-on-year.
The company’s cumulative revenue for January and February reached NT$94.4 billion, marking an 8.34% increase compared to the same period last year. ASE said that its advanced packaging and testing business is expected to grow at a faster pace than the overall logic semiconductor market this year.
Regarding its advanced packaging business, the company said it anticipates an additional NT$32.97 billion in revenue, raising it to NT$52.77 billion this year, a 1.6-fold increase from last year.
