TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan’s Comprehensive Assessment Program (CAP), a test used by junior high school students for high school and vocational program admissions, will be held on May 17-18.
According to test administrators, 175,247 students have registered across 18 examination areas, marking a decrease of 16,880 from 2024 and setting a record low. The three largest testing regions are New Taipei City (27,421), Taichung-Nantou (27,135), and Taipei City (20,201), per CNA.
The Ministry of Education said CAP is a key mechanism for maintaining academic standards among junior high school graduates. While some admission channels do not require test results, all students are encouraged to take the exam.
Students are exempt from the CAP registration fee, and schools typically handle group registration on their behalf.
Completed CAP registration documents will be mailed to students on April 11. Those registered through their schools will receive their documents via their junior high schools, while individually registered candidates will receive them from regional examination committees. If there are errors, corrections can be made on April 14-15.
Candidates who miss the initial correction window or require additional changes can visit the examination center for a second correction phase during the test period on May 17-18.
