TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in New York said that "Park (Taman-taman)” by Taiwanese director So Yo-hen (蘇育賢) will be screened in New York at The First Look Film Festival on March 12-16.
The documentary involves two Indonesian immigrants, Asri and Hasan, who convene at Tainan Park to share the day’s experiences, spinning migrant struggles into poetry, per the event page. Describing how the poets become part of the poems themselves, the director stated, “Sometimes, when looking at landscape paintings, imagining the painter facing the scenery across this canvas, gradually, it also becomes a part of the scenery.”
So’s documentary has won local and international awards, including at the 2024 Taiwan International Documentary Festival and the 2024 International Documentary Film Festival in Amsterdam.
