TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Germany’s Siemens signed a sustainability partnership memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Taipei’s Q Square on Monday.
Under the collaboration, Q Square will adopt Siemens technology to enhance its air conditioning system, per CNA. The project is expected to save approximately 1 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity annually, reducing carbon emissions by about 495 metric tons per year.
Q Square said the initiative will be carried out in two phases, focusing on smart energy management and chiller plant efficiency at its Taipei location. Phase one will optimize air conditioning efficiency with smart equipment.
Phase two will focus on energy-saving improvements in the chiller plant by replacing chilled and cooling water system components with high-efficiency pumps and installing variable frequency drives.
Q Square said it has a comprehensive energy-saving strategy planned for this year as part of the economy ministry’s energy-saving subsidy program for the commercial service sector.
