TAIPEI (Taiwan News)—Foxconn Technology said Thursday it would export its smart city concept overseas for the first time, to the Mexican state of Sonora.
As the result of a memorandum of cooperation, the tech giant will apply the experiences and solutions of its smart city project in Kaohsiung to Sonora. The company had also been invited to participate in the state’s “Proyecto Olinia” involving electric buses, cars, and batteries, per CNA.
The state south of Arizona and on the Gulf of California would first use smart city basics to manage transportation, law enforcement, and harbor management. The public, businesses, and administrators will get a taste of digital management through the project, which will be developed according to a build-operate-localize formula, Foxconn said.
The company explained that its smart city work in Kaohsiung involved generative AI, the Model T electric bus, and EVs to provide smart transportation and smart tourism info to its CityGPT platform.
