TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – Kaohsiung has welcomed 50 exhibitors from 10 countries to participate at the Asia Pacific wind energy expo opening Tuesday.
The topics on view ranged from the manufacturing of turbines to offshore engineering and related services, per CNA. The Feb. 25-27 show focuses on innovation while emphasizing the need for green energy.
In his opening speech, Economics Vice Minister Lien Ching-chang (連錦漳) did not avoid discussing problems for the sector. He mentioned how residents preferred not to have new energy plants near their homes, creating trouble for local governments eager to welcome clean energy and its job opportunities.
Lien described how Taiwan had become a leading global power in offshore wind energy, with 374 turbines in six areas. The move was crucial in helping the country achieve a zero-emission status in 2050, he said.
Organizers of the fair also emphasized its role in bringing potential partners together. The expo serves as a forum to discover new possibilities, and to have Taiwan businesses link up with global enterprises while staying focused on the latest market trends.
