TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The 2025 Taipei International Dragon Boat Championship will be held on May 30.
Event registration begins on March 17 at 10 a.m. and will continue until March 21 at 11 p.m. The total number of participating teams will be capped at 232, with registration conducted through the event’s official website.
The competition is divided into “standard dragon boat,” requiring 21 participants, and “small dragon boat,” crewed by 12 participants. There are men's, women's, and mixed categories, along with age groups such as youth, adult, and seniors, and government agencies, high schools, and specially invited teams, per CNA.
The Taipei City Department of Sports Bureau said the registration fee for teams is NT$3,000. High school teams, seniors, and those specially invited to compete will have their fees waived.
Dragon boat competitors can also engage in warm-up activities beginning in April, such as rowing pool training and Keelung River dragon boat practice.
The actual competition will be held over three days, from May 30 to June 1, at the Dajia section of the Keelung River in Taipei. The event coincides with the traditional Dragon Boat Festival, with stalls and vendors making the event suitable for families and large groups.
