TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Tourism Administration showcased Taiwan at the Los Angeles Travel and Adventure Show over the weekend.
Taiwan's pavilion featured a design incorporating the "Rainbow Arch" from Kaohsiung's Qijin District. Meinong Hakka oil-paper umbrellas were displayed in front, attracting numerous visitors for photos, per CNA.
The pavilion drew more than 1,000 visitors on the first day. China Airlines, EVA Air, Starlux Airlines, and several local travel agencies also set up booths.
Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Los Angeles Director Amino Chi (紀欽耀) attended the fair, hoping the event would showcase Taiwan's beauty and attract more American tourists.
Taiwan's domestic airlines continue to add international flights and destinations, allowing travelers to transit through Taiwan. The office said "Two-city travel" is being promoted as part of its tourism initiative.
Chang Chiu-hua (張邱驊), China Airlines' marketing manager for the Americas, said the airline continues to expand its North American market. It is working with local travel agencies to promote tourism to Taiwan.
In addition, the Tourism Administration led airline and travel agency representatives to participate in South Asia's largest travel expo, the South Asia Travel and Tourism Exchange, held in India from Wednesday to Friday. The delegation promoted Taiwanese cuisine, culture, and tourist attractions.
The administration also joined the New York Travel and Adventure Show from Jan. 25-26. Taiwan's pavilion, featuring Lunar New Year elements and traditional marble games, was selected as the best pavilion in the Asia region.
