TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – New Tuvalu Ambassador Lily Tangisia Faavae thanked Taiwan Thursday for raising the quality of healthcare in her country.
She was speaking at the official presentation of a copy of her credentials to Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung (林佳龍). When Faavae served as Tuvalu’s deputy health minister, she spoke out in favor of Taiwan at the World Health Assembly, Lin said.
The new envoy said she planned to work on deepening the cooperation between Taiwan and Tuvalu, one of its 12 official diplomatic allies. The two countries worked on projects involving clean energy, agriculture and fisheries, healthcare, communications, and talent training,
President Lai Ching-te (賴清德) visited Tuvalu in December during a tour of Pacific allies which also included the Marshall Islands and Palau. Lin mentioned the positive experiences gained during the visit.
