TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Gogoro Interim CEO Henry Chiang (姜家煒) announced Tuesday four strategies to expand operations overseas this year.
First, the company will focus on streamlining its product line, reducing it to five vehicle platforms, per CNA. By utilizing a modular platform, the company aims to enhance component sharing and competitiveness.
Second, an “unlimited off-peak riding” subscription plan will be launched. This plan offers 14 hours of free battery swaps daily during off-peak periods, starting at NT$488 (US$15) per month. It is expected to launch in the second quarter of this year.
Third, Gogoro will expand its battery repurposing applications to drive the second growth phase of its energy business. Once smart batteries reach the end of their lifespan in electric scooters, they will be repurposed into energy storage systems for corporate clients.
Finally, Chiang announced a joint venture between Gogoro and Castrol, aimed at expanding into the Vietnam market, per UDN. Gogoro will provide design expertise and core technology, while Castrol will handle sales and operations.
Over the past decade, Gogoro has deployed 2,695 battery swap stations across Taiwan and has invested in more than 1.4 million batteries, with an average of 45 batteries per station, per Liberty Times. The company now serves nearly 640,000 riders, supports more than 60 electric scooter models, and operates the world’s largest battery-swapping energy network.
