TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — UK bass powerhouse Madam X, head of the record label KAIZEN, will make her Taipei debut on Saturday at Taipei Music Center’s Live House D, delivering a high-energy mix of grime, dubstep, UK garage, left-field techno, and more.
The event serves as a warm-up for the upcoming Glowball Festival in May, making use of a unique indoor space featuring a floor-to-ceiling LED screen and a special collaboration with Formosa Sound System, ensuring deep, chest-rattling bass frequencies that will keep the crowd moving late into the early morning.
Madam X, aka Christiana Vassilakis, first made waves as a Manchester club promoter, hosting BPM club nights before stepping behind the decks herself. Her cutting-edge DJ sets quickly earned her a BBC Radio 1 program, and she has since performed everywhere from stadium-sized electronic music festivals to intimate sessions designed for streaming audiences such as Boiler Room. For her Taipei debut, she will be joined by a roster of top local DJs.

Leading up to her set, Sonia Calico, founder of Glowball Festival and a key figure in Taiwan’s electronic music scene, will warm up the crowd with her genre-blending sound. KushBae, a member of underground collective Newkidsintown, will also take the stage, along with BOTHERBONES, an ex-drummer of indie noise outfit I'mdifficult, who is now turning heads with high-intensity dancefloor cuts.
Adding to the sonic experience, Formosa Sound System will bring its handcrafted sound setup, the first of its kind in Taiwan. While originally built for reggae and dub, the system has been fine-tuned to handle the resonant frequencies preferred by Madam X.
Organizers see this show as a preview of an explosive season for electronic music in Taiwan, setting the stage for an even bigger Glowball Festival later this spring.
