TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Kaohsiung City Government signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Taiwan Creative Content Agency (TAICCA) on Monday to boost cultural and creative industry development in southern Taiwan.
Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Chi-mai (陳其邁) highlighted past collaborations with TAICCA, including co-investments in film and television projects that showcase Kaohsiung’s unique character. The city also partnered with the agency at the Taiwan Technology X Culture Expo, demonstrating the fusion of technology and cultural content, per CNA.
Chen said the goal is to position Kaohsiung as a city that blends cultural value with industrial competitiveness. Moving forward, he pledged to leverage resources from both sides to expand cultural influence, connect businesses with creative professionals, and ensure sustainable growth in the cultural content sector.
TAICCA Chairman Tsai Chia-chun (蔡嘉駿) expressed optimism that the launch of TAICCA’s southern branch will provide crucial support for local industries. He said the partnership with Kaohsiung is expected to generate unprecedented synergies in cultural technology, film, and digital content, strengthening the region’s global position.
Tsai also revealed that TAICCA is in talks with Hollywood special effects companies, Netflix, and South Korean production firms for potential collaborations. He described Kaohsiung as an ideal film production hub and a prime destination for multinational companies.
The Kaohsiung Bureau of Cultural Affairs emphasized that this collaboration will reinforce Kaohsiung’s role as the cultural and creative industry hub of southern Taiwan, generating new opportunities for local creative teams. The city looks forward to using TAICCA’s resources and expertise to solidify its position as a key center for Taiwan’s creative industries.
