TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — A fire broke out Wednesday morning at Foresight Optical in Tainan’s An Ping Industrial Park.

The city fire department responded to the 11:16 a.m. report with 26 vehicles and 50 firefighters. While white smoke was visible outside the building, no flames were found, per CNA.

Firefighters extinguished the fire by 11:38 a.m. Seven employees were treated for smoke inhalation and taken to a hospital. They evacuated 242 employees from the building as a precaution. 

According to the fire department, a small fire broke out in a machine room on the building's second floor, spanning an area of approximately one square meter. The building's fire suppression system was activated, and no property damage was reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, the department added.
