TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung (林佳龍) and Minister of Culture Li Yuan (李遠) held a bilateral ministerial meeting on Tuesday to discuss cultural diplomacy cooperation.
During the meeting, the two planned to expand Taiwan’s international visibility at the 2025 World Expo in Osaka, Japan, from April to October, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Lin said the foreign ministry could host friendship events with its allies during the expo to strengthen diplomatic ties. Additionally, MOFA will collaborate with the culture ministry to organize cultural performances showcasing Taiwan's diverse cultural heritage, Lin said.
They also highlighted cultural events such as the exhibitions of over 100 artifacts from the National Palace Museum in the Czech Republic and France in September and November. The event is part of the "Taiwan Cultural Year” in Europe.
The two ministries will curate and promote Taiwanese culture across Europe and engage with Taiwan's representative offices in Europe to broaden public outreach.
Cultural diplomacy plays a pivotal role in maximizing Taiwan’s international influence, Lin said. He pledged to continue working with the culture ministry to use culture as a bridge to connect with the world and expand Taiwan's global impact.
