TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Presidential Office Secretary-General Pan Meng-an (潘孟安) announced a three-point consensus on Monday following President Lai Ching-te’s (賴清德) meeting with the heads of Taiwan’s five government branches.
The meeting aimed to ease political tensions and included Premier Cho Jung-tai (卓榮泰), Legislative Speaker Han Kuo-yu (韓國瑜), Judicial Yuan President Shieh Ming-yan (謝銘洋), Examination Yuan President Chou Hung-hsien (周弘憲), and Control Yuan President Chen Chu (陳菊).
Speaking at a press conference, Pan outlined three key points, per CNA.
First, under Taiwan’s five-power separation framework, each government branch must fulfill its constitutional responsibilities, maintain checks and balances, and respect and support one another.
Second, while political parties may compete, national interests must not be sacrificed. Given Taiwan’s changing international situation and growing challenges, unity is essential, and national defense must be strengthened.
Third, the well-being of the people must not be sacrificed. Internally, economic and livelihood issues must be the top priority.
Pan said the proposals raised in the meeting would be further studied and implemented by each branch. He urged all parties to collaborate in achieving these shared goals to foster national harmony and prosperity.
