TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — TSMC reported a January revenue of NT$293.2 billion (US$8.9 billion) on Monday, marking the second-highest single-month revenue in the company’s history.
The chipmaker said the earnings represent a 5.4% month-over-month increase and a 35.9% year-over-year growth, second only to the record NT$314.2 billion revenue in October, per CNA.
TSMC mentioned the magnitude 6.4 earthquake that struck Taiwan on Jan. 21. The company evacuated its fabs in Southern and Central Science Parks and reported no employee injuries.
While there was no structural damage to its fabs, and all facilities maintained normal water, power, and safety operations, the earthquakes and aftershocks affected wafer production.
TSMC estimated that Q1 2025 revenue will be near the lower end of its projected range of US$25 billion to US$25.8 billion. After accounting for insurance compensation, the company expects approximately NT$5.3 billion in earthquake-related losses in Q1.
