TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Central Weather Administration has issued cold surge advisories for 20 counties and cities.
From Saturday until Monday morning, the CWA forecasts temperatures will remain low. Areas north of Changhua, as well as Yilan, Hualien, Taitung, Kinmen, and Matsu, may experience temperatures around 10 C or even as low as 6 C.
The CWA predicts New Taipei, Hsinchu County, and Miaoli County may experience temperatures below 6 C. Keelung City, Taipei City, Taoyuan City, Hsinchu City, Taichung City, Changhua County, Yilan County, Hualien County, Taitung County, and Kinmen County could see temperatures around or below 10 C, while Lienchiang County may experience temperatures around or below 6 C.
Nantou County, Yunlin County, Chiayi, Chiayi County, Tainan, and Kaohsiung City have a chance of temperatures dropping below 10 C.
Meteorologist Daniel Wu (吳德榮) said as the cold wave moves southward on Saturday, moisture levels will gradually decrease. The north will remain cold, while other regions will experience chilly mornings and evenings.
Wu said that from Sunday until Monday morning, the cold wave will continue with lowland temperatures dipping to 5 C. Wu added the likelihood of snowfall on mountains will decrease starting Saturday night as moisture levels drop.
