TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Industrial Technology Research Institute announced Friday its AI-powered Janus network technology that instantly identifies cyberattacks.
Janus is software that uses microsegmentation, or breaking networks into smaller chunks, per CNA. By requiring identity verification at every step or segment, the technology makes it difficult for attackers to move within the network and compromise multiple computers.
ITRI said Janus uses packet capture and firewall logs gathered from devices, then applies AI algorithms for analysis. This allows for the automated generation of firewall whitelist rules based on a device’s network traffic patterns.
The institute said that in the digital era, network devices equipped with Janus can monitor unusual network activity. It mentioned one hospital case study where the software detected 360,000 abnormal transmissions within four hours.
The institute said Janus can be used in industrial or critical infrastructure protection, safeguarding a company’s digital security.
