TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan’s “Teen Diplomatic Envoys” delegation has arrived in New York as part of their North America tour.
The group consists of 25 students and teachers from five schools. From February 3-13, they will visit Vancouver, Seattle, San Francisco, New York, Boston, and Washington, D.C., CNA reported.
Their itinerary in New York includes visits to City Hall and the city council. They will hold talks with the mayor’s office and engage with faculty and students from New York and New Jersey universities.
Tom Chih-chiang Lee (李志強), the director of Taiwan’s New York office, emphasized that the trip fosters mutual understanding between Taiwan and the US through exchanges. He hoped the young envoys would fully experience New York’s diverse culture and become bridges for Taiwan’s global engagement.
The Teen Diplomatic Envoys program was launched in 2002 and aims to cultivate internationally-minded young talent, raise youth interest in diplomatic affairs, and promote interactions between Taiwan and the global community.
