TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — A defense industry delegation from Estonia arrived in Taiwan on Tuesday for a five-day trip to bolster defense industry cooperation.
Kristo Enn Vaga, Estonia-Taiwan Parliamentary Friendship Group chair, is leading the delegation. During their trip, they will engage with the Ministry of National Defense, the Taiwan Defense Industry Development Association, and the Asia Drone AI Innovation Application R&D Center to foster exchanges with Taiwan defense companies, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
The delegation will also meet with Vice President Hsiao Bi-khim (蕭美琴) and attend banquets hosted by Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung (林佳龍) and National Security Council Secretary-General Joseph Wu (吳釗燮).
On Tuesday afternoon, the delegation accepted a donation of 1.11 million face masks from Motex Healthcare and Taiwan Comfort Champ Manufacturing. The masks will be distributed to local governments and medical institutions in Ukraine and Estonia.
The foreign ministry noted that this is Vaga's second trip to Taiwan, following his visit in March.
Taiwan and Estonia stand on the frontlines against authoritarian expansion and share the values of democracy and freedom, the ministry said. “The two countries will continue expanding cooperation in various fields to strengthen democratic resilience together,” it added.
