TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — A female Vietnamese worker has been found performing underground cosmetic surgery in Pingtung.
The Immigration Agency became aware of the worker's illegal activities after she posted her services, including before and after photos, on the internet. The worker, named Xiao Hui (小惠), violated the Physicians Act since she did not have the necessary medical licenses, per CNA.
An Immigration Agency press release said she worked in Taiwan for eight years and sought to attract fellow Vietnamese customers. She was self-taught in cosmetic surgery practices, earning illegitimate certificates online from Vietnam, South Korea, and the US.
She wore a doctor's coat and rented a space that posed as a health clinic featuring her certificates. Soliciting customers with cheap prices, she offered more than 10 medical procedures, such as subcutaneous filler injections, thread rhinoplasty, double eyelid surgery, and Botox injections, as well as anesthesia administration.
A task force, in addition to the Pingtung District Prosecutors Office and the Pingtung County Health Bureau, raided the clinic and seized around 300 pieces of medical-related evidence.
Immigration Agency Pingtung County Service Station Captain Chiang Liang-yu (姜亮羽) warned the public against accepting medical treatment from unlicensed doctors.
