TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan and Ukraine are collaborating on a program to provide teacher training and laptops to primary and secondary schools in central and western Ukraine.
Taiwan’s representative office in Poland partnered with the Ukrainian NGO All-Ukrainian Forum for Democracy and the Ukrainian Catholic University to launch the “Leave No One Behind” initiative.
The graduation ceremony for the first group of teachers in the program took place on Jan. 24. Taiwan’s representative to Poland, Liu Yong-jian (劉永健), thanked educators and volunteers for their contributions to improving learning conditions for Ukrainian students.
Liu praised the resilience and courage of Ukrainians and reiterated Taiwan’s commitment to supporting Ukraine. This includes aiding the development of digital courses and bolstering Ukraine’s economic and social resilience to ensure that the next generation can continue their education despite the ongoing war.
The “Leave No One Behind” initiative has so far donated 1,100 Taiwan-made laptops and 480 coding toolkits to Ukrainian schools. Two computer teacher training programs were conducted at the Ukrainian Catholic University in July and October last year, benefiting 48 teachers from 24 schools.
