TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung (林佳龍) said his visit to Taiwan’s Pacific Island ally Palau was productive.
Lin led a special delegation to attend President Surangel Whipps Jr.’s inauguration on Jan. 16. During the four-day trip, he witnessed the donation of a smart medical system by Shin Kong Hospital to the Belau National Hospital and the signing of a sports exchange and cooperation agreement between Taiwan's Sports Administration and the Palau National Olympic Committee.
The foreign minister also visited Palau’s tourist sites, during which Whipps briefed the delegation on Palau's tourism investment. A Palauan government team also shared the nation's future development priorities and the group visited several potential investment sites.
In their discussions, Lin reiterated Taiwan’s commitment to assisting Palau’s national development and collaborating closely on future economic plans. Whipps thanked Taiwan for its support, emphasizing the importance of continued collaboration to achieve mutual prosperity.
Through the participation of various ministries and public-private sectors, this visit showcased the strength of Taiwan's comprehensive diplomacy, Lin said. He believed the friendship between the two countries would continue to grow.
