TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang (黃仁勳) visited Fengchia Night Market in Taichung on Thursday, part of his Lunar New Year visit to Taiwan.
Amid huge crowds, the Tainan-born CEO signed autographs and took photos, per CNA. Huang was scheduled to arrive at 6:30 p.m. but was delayed until almost 7 p.m. due to heavy traffic around the market.
Just 10 minutes in, his security detail canceled the visit due to crowding. Huang left the night market around 7:30 p.m. by car, CNA reported.
The night market visit is Huang’s first stop among many in Taiwan. He flew into Taichung on Wednesday and visited Siliconware Precision Industries Co. and met with Chair Tsai Chi-wen (蔡祺文).
Huang said in a speech that Nvidia has maintained a 27-year partnership with SPIL. He added that Nvidia is transitioning from TSMC’s CoWoS-S process to the more advanced CoWoS-L.
The technology involves directly packaging multiple processors on a silicon interposer, or electrical interface. It offers higher data transfer rates and efficiency, making it suitable for AI applications.
Regarding Nvidia’s overseas headquarters in Taiwan, Huang said he is still unsure.
