TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – Tigerair Taiwan will pay an average of 12.8 months in year-end bonuses, a record high for the country’s airline sector, reports said Tuesday.
The recovery of international travel following the pandemic was the main reason for the board of directors' decision, per CNA. Tigerair Taiwan also said that pay raises for 2025 would average 4%, with an extra NT$3,000 (US$90.93).
The maximum year-end bonus could reach 17.4 months, compared to last year’s average of 10.8 months. The new bonus means for every month worked during 2024, an employee will receive a double wage.
In November, staff received a mid-year bonus worth three months of their basic salary increased to NT$20,000.
The year-end bonuses at Tigerair Taiwan set a record for Taiwan’s airline sector, the report said. The owner of Tigerair Taiwan, China Airlines, paid a 10-month bonus for the end of 2024, while rival EVA Air settled on seven months.
