TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — This photo of mini snowbears was taken on Hehuanshan Friday.
A strong continental cold air mass, combined with moist conditions, caused ice pellets and snow to fall on Hehuan Mountain early Friday morning, per CNA.
Members of the online group Taiwan Snow Fun Club stayed overnight at Wuling Mountain Pass, which has an elevation of 3,275 m, to wait for snow. The snow enthusiasts came prepared with pink plastic molds to produce snow figures.

From Thursday night to Friday morning, the Highway Bureau implemented an early warning closure of the section from 18 km to 41.5 km of Provincial Highway 14A, from Cuifeng in Nantou County to Dayuling in Hualien County. Visitors heading up to see snow reported a traffic jam with cars lined up for about 300 meters.
The Highway Bureau later lifted the closure and traffic has resumed. Vehicles are required to have snow chains.
