TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan Mobile announced Monday (Sept. 5) that it has jointly invested NT$100 million (US$3 million) with AppWorks and Uspace into Indonesian startup Soul Parking.
Indonesia is home to over 137 million motorcycles, making parking a significant challenge for drivers, according to an AppWorks press release.
As the country’s largest parking technology company, Soul Parking handles over 20 million parking transactions annually and serves more than 2 million vehicles, offering a seamless digital parking platform, CNA reported.
Taiwan Mobile CEO and AppWorks founder Jamie Lin (林之晨) said the company aims to build a smart mobility ecosystem by connecting Soul Parking with smart parking platform Uspace and electric scooter-sharing service provider WeMo.
Soul Parking CEO Kenneth Darmansjah said the funding round underscores the strength of the company’s business and the resilience of its team, according to UDN. He added that Soul Parking plans to expand into other densely populated cities in Indonesia and explore opportunities in electric vehicle (EV) charging.
In 2023, Indonesia was Taiwan’s 14th-largest trading partner and 17th-largest export destination.
