TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — An exhibition celebrating Taiwan's championship victory in the World Baseball Softball Confederation Premier12 set a record on its opening day Wednesday at National Taiwan Museum.
“Behind the Champion” sold nearly 6,000 tickets and attracted more than 3,000 visitors on its first day. This marks the highest attendance in nearly 60 years for the museum, per CNA.
National celebrations followed Taiwan's Nov. 24 victory over Japan, inspiring the exhibition to commemorate the team's journey. It was Taiwan's first championship appearance in more than 32 years across the Olympics, World Baseball Classic and Premier12.
Nearly 50 items, including medals, the championship game bag, Team Taiwan’s game jerseys and equipment are featured. A championship trophy replica is also on display.
The exhibition runs through March 2. Admission is NT$30 (91 cents).
National Taiwan Museum is closed Mondays and open from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Sunday.
The Chinese Professional Baseball League will also arrange for the exhibition to tour locations in northern, central, and southern Taiwan.
