TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Cabinet approved the “Southern Silicon Valley Promotion Plan” on Thursday to expand the nation’s computing power.
Developed by the National Science and Technology Council, the plan calls for integrating Tainan’s Shalun Green Energy Science City with technology parks from Chiayi to Pingtung to create an AI ecosystem, per the press release.
The Cabinet said southern Taiwan is a crucial base for semiconductors and machinery, making it advantageous for AI development. It said it intends to inject AI into more businesses.
By integrating industry and academia, the plan will apply digital transformation across industries and boost competitiveness, the Cabinet said.
Premier Cho Jung-tai (卓榮泰) said the purpose of innovation-driven development is to benefit the public, per Anue. He called on all ministries to support measures for talent cultivation, water and electricity supply, and transportation.
