TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – Kaohsiung has been chosen as one of the world’s up-and-coming destinations because of its concert economy, a report said Thursday.
Hong Kong-based online travel company Klook also mentioned the multitude and diversity of activities in Kaohsiung. Other destinations on the list for 2025 included Vietnam’s resort island of Phu Quoc, the Japanese city of Nikko, as well as Darwin in Australia and Istanbul in Turkey.
According to Klook, an estimated 84% of travelers in the Asia Pacific had already booked their overseas travel for the year, and 28% chose a destination because they wanted to attend a local activity, per CNA. Cultural festivals, music concerts, and sports events attracted the most people, and Kaohsiung possessed the necessary resources for all three categories, Klook said.
The city is a magnet for foreign travelers due to its experience with cultural activities and concerts. Kaohsiung hosted concerts by Coldplay, Blackpink, and Bruno Mars, with Maroon 5 scheduled for February and Kylie Minogue for March.
