TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The weather is expected to be favorable for the New Year's Eve fireworks, but cloudy skies on New Year's Day could obscure the first sunrise of 2025.
The CWA said skies will be partly cloudy to clear across most areas, but cloudy conditions will be seen in Keelung, Yilan, Hualien, and Taitung. Lows could reach 14-15 C in the north and northeast, while central and southern regions could see 16-17 C lows.
Those hoping to catch the first sunrise of 2025 will find it difficult in the north and east, per TyTech Taiwan. The view might be better in the high mountain areas in the west.

According to the map, TyTech Taiwan predicts cloudy skies in the north and east, rain in central and south Taiwan, and partly cloudy skies in the west. Some mountain areas of Hsinchu, Miaoli, Taichung, and Changhua are expected to be clear.
By noon, only the western third of Taoyuan and Hsinchu will have clear skies. In the evening, most of Taiwan will likely see scattered showers.
This wave of moisture is expected to last for three days, with its peak impact on Thursday and Friday. Conditions will be damp and chilly during this period.
