TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan’s China Airlines and EVA Air are expected to issue more than six months of year-end bonuses this year, CNA reported on Monday.
China Airlines is expected to issue 10-month year-end bonuses, while EVA Air plans to issue seven-month employee bonuses, per Yahoo News.
China Airlines President Kao Shing-hwang (高星潢) said passenger and cargo sectors have recovered significantly after the pandemic. The airline reported a NT$10.37 billion (US$316.8 million) profit in the first three quarters, a record high in its 65-year history, Kao said.
EVA Air reported NT$164.44 billion in revenue and a net profit of NT$21.485 billion in the first three quarters, also a record high for the same period. The company plans to increase salaries by about 4% next year.
EVA Air distributed eight-month bonuses last year. This included six-month year-end bonuses and two-month midyear bonuses.
Starlux Airlines launched 10 new routes, purchased five new aircraft, and established a second base at Taichung Airport this year. The airline will distribute three-month year-end bonuses and increase salaries by 3.5% to 5%.
Tigerair reported earnings per share of NT$5.52 in the first three quarters this year, with the highest gross profit margin among Taiwan's top four airlines. The company issued an average 10.8-month year-end bonus last year.
