TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — United Microelectronics Corporation founder Robert Tsao (曹興誠) blasted China’s United Front tactics at a press conference on Saturday.
When asked how to distinguish normal exchanges from United Front tactics, Tsao said there are no genuine cross-strait exchanges—only United Front operations, per Liberty Times. True exchanges require the CCP to acknowledge Taiwan's sovereignty. Without respect, interactions are simply efforts to undermine Taiwan's independence, he said.
Tsao explained that China's United Front strategy involves allying with secondary enemies to attack primary ones. Once the primary target is taken down, the secondary targets become the next focus, perpetuating a cycle of conflict, he said.
He pointed out that the CCP unilaterally amended China’s constitution to claim Taiwan as an inseparable part. Tsao warned that some Taiwanese do not recognize their nation’s sovereignty and echo CCP rhetoric about "the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.” He likened this dynamic to a virus attacking an immune system, which can lead to the system's destruction.
Tsao advocated "No contact, no negotiations, no compromise," as a strategy for interacting with China.
The businessman was sanctioned by Beijing in October for his affiliation with Kuma Academy. The CCP claimed it “seeks to incite separatism and damage cross-strait relations.”
Tsao pledged to donate NT$600 million (US$18.27 million) in 2022 to the academy to train civilians in combat and first aid. He also promised NT$400 million to train 300,000 snipers to counter a potential Chinese invasion.
