TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan's stock market consolidated Friday, as sector rotation led to a balanced performance.
The Taiwan Stock Exchange Capitalization Weighted Stock Index, TAIEX, closed up 28.74 points at 23275.68. Turnover totaled NT$285.8 billion (US$8.71 billion), per CNA.
Electronics stocks rose 0.3%, financial stocks gained 0.14%, and shipping, steel, and construction sectors fell more than 1%. TSMC stabilized the market.
TSMC closed up 0.46% at NT$1,090 (US$33), MediaTek rose 0.7% to NT$1,430, and Quanta Computer remained flat at NT$291. Printed circuit board stocks surged as Global Brands Manufacture announced plans to acquire Japanese PCB maker Lincstech for NT$8.4 billion, driving its stock price to the daily limit of NT$58.6.
Other PCB stocks also rallied, with Plotech reaching the daily limit at NT$16.5 and Gold Circuit Electronics and Hannstar Board both rising over 3%. Known as the “mother of the electronics industry” PCBs are crucial for the assembly and functioning of all electronic devices, according to Statementdog.

Battery backup unit concept stocks saw a pullback after previous gains. Stl Technology closed down 7.81%, Dynapack International Technology fell 2.77%, and Sysgration dropped 1.96%.
A BBU is installed in servers to prevent data loss during power outages. The escalating power requirements of AI workloads drive up the need for uninterruptible power supply systems and BBUs, presenting a promising outlook for BBU markets.
