TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The 2024 Penghu Wind Music and Light Festival, held between August and November, gained international recognition by the London Design Awards.
The festival, jointly organized by Penghu National Scenic Area Headquarters and the Chuan Tsai Idea Industrial Company, was named a Platinum Winner by the London Design Awards in the conceptual design category for exhibitions and events. This year’s festival was held at the Magong Guanyin Pavillion Park with the theme “Festival of Island Light,” reported CNA.
The honor of receiving a London Design Award highlights the incredible creative effort of organizers and designers who made this year's festival a success. The event was praised for its wide array of distinctive lantern displays highlighting the local culture and ecology of Penghu.
The Director of the Penghu Tourism Management Office, Hong Chih-kuang (洪志光) said the lighting and design choices were carefully selected to represent four key elements of “wind, music, islands, and the story of changing seasons.” The combination of traditional lanterns and modern lighting technology created an immersive dream-like environment for visitors, he said.
On the London Design Awards website, the festival is described as offering guests “the relaxed vibe of beaches, sunshine, and bikinis” during the day and “a feast of lights and music” during the night “reminiscent of Brazilian Carnival.” The festival skillfully integrated “diverse ocean ecosystems and remarkable island charm” to create an amazing sensory experience, according to the official award announcement.
