TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Tour-booking operator KKday is looking to acquire companies to expand its offerings in Asia, Nikkei Asia reported Thursday.
KKday’s platform connects travelers to local tours and activities. It has offices in 11 countries and regions, including Taiwan, Japan, and South Korea.
“We want to buy companies with which we have synergy,” KKday CEO Ming Chen (陳明明) said. He said KKday has been in touch with companies in Japan and South Korea but no specific candidate has been selected.
KKday raised NT$2.3 billion (US$70 million) this month, partly through a share placement to existing investors, with a portion expected to go to acquisitions.
The company said it seeks to expand its user base. It acquired the activity booking site Activity Japan in 2021 to broaden its local presence.
The company also aims to expand its offering of 350,000 experiences spanning 550 cities in 92 countries and regions. By incorporating tours and other activities from local booking sites, it hopes to bring new experiences to tourists.
