TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Tainan will host the sixth Longci Light Festival at Huxingshan Park from Saturday to Feb. 16.
Praised as Taiwan’s most beautiful “forest lantern festival," Longci Light Festival will have the theme of “rebirth of flame and earth” this year. Tainan City Government invited 11 artists to collaborate with residents and schools, including National Cheng Kung University and Tainan National University of the Arts, to create 13 works, per CNA.
The city's Government Cultural Affairs Bureau said this year's event will continue last year's "dragon fire" theme. The bureau said this exhibition will combine fluorescent painting and animation projection to create immersive experiences with different styles by day and night.
The Bureau also said seven electronic music events will be held starting Jan. 5.
The event tickets include weekday tickets for NT$50 (US$1.55) and weekend tickets for NT$100, with a daily limit of 5,000 weekend tickets. Ticket holders can ride the shuttle bus for free, per the Tainan City Government’s news release.
At Wednesday’s press conference, Tainan Mayor Huang Wei-che (黃偉哲) said Longci Light Festival is popular with tourists. Last year's event attracted nearly 100,000 tourists, Huang said.
Huxingshan Park has a steep terrain. The bureau reminded visitors to prioritize safety and consider their physical condition while enjoying the exhibition.
