TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – A rescue team transported the body of a missing hiker down a Hsinchu County mountain trail on Wednesday.
Chang (張), a 43-year-old man from New Taipei, was reported missing on Monday on the Beidalaman Trail in Jianshi, a mountainous township in east Taiwan. The fire department tracked his phone to determine their search area, per CNA.
On Tuesday, a team of 22 rescue workers set out, splitting up into three groups. One of the groups found Chang’s lifeless body at a distance of 80 to 100 meters down the trail slope.
Due to poor visibility and terrain steepness, the fire department waited until Wednesday to send rescuers to retrieve the body.
