TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Taoyuan Animal Protection Office said it is investigating the identity of a man accused of abusing a Golden Retriever on the side of a road.
A driver on Dasing West Road reported seeing a man wearing a helmet repeatedly kicking the dog. The driver recorded the incident and posted the video on Facebook on Sunday, seeking help to identify the man.
Police are working to locate the individual using the vehicle's license plate but said the footage alone is insufficient to confirm the car owner’s involvement, the driver updated in the post. While no security cameras were at the exact location, a nearby store’s camera captured the incident.
The store owner has requested an official document from authorities before releasing the footage. Necessary paperwork has already been submitted, the driver said.
Animal Protection Office head Wang Te-chi (王得吉) said the behavior is a clear violation of the Animal Protection Act. He added that officials will confirm the owner’s identity using the license plate and request a statement from the owner, per EBC.
