TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – Taoyuan Airport MRT trains will run for 41 hours to mark New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, reports said Tuesday.
Taoyuan Metro Corporation said commuter trains will operate from Dec. 31 at 6 a.m. until Jan. 1 at 11 p.m. Express trains will run according to their normal schedule, per CNA.
The changes are due to mass events in the area, said Taoyuan City Government. In addition to New Year’s Eve celebrations in front of Taoyuan High Speed Rail Station, rock band Mayday has scheduled six concerts at Rakuten Taoyuan Baseball Stadium.
Airport MRT services will be extended until midnight following concert fans' needs, the city said. Authorities advised the public to buy MRT tickets beforehand or ensure enough money is loaded on their MRT cards to avoid waiting at stations.
The events will also restrict YouBikes and handing out stickers for Mayday concerts.
