TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — "Women Born to Shine," a landmark exhibition celebrating women, opened in Taiwan on Friday.
Running until April 6, the exhibition at Taipei's Songshan Cultural and Creative Park features 100 images selected from National Geographic's vast archive, showcasing the diverse experiences of women worldwide over the past 136 years. The photographs are organized into five themes: joy, beauty, love, wisdom, and strength.
Organizer Firenze Cultural Exchange said 90% of the images are being displayed in Taiwan for the first time. The photographs reveal how women live, the challenges they face, and the resilience they demonstrate to shape their place in the world.
Among the highlights is the iconic "Afghan Girl" portrait by photographer Steve McCurry.
The exhibition also celebrates inspiring women such as a legendary pilot who influenced generations of aviators, the Chinese-American architect responsible for the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, a groundbreaking mountaineer who conquered 14 peaks over 8,000 m without supplemental oxygen, and passionate advocates for endangered species.
Firenze Cultural Exchange portrayed the exhibition as a vivid historical panorama of women's lives, showcasing their remarkable accomplishments and resilience through compelling imagery. It hopes visitors will gain insight into the extraordinary achievements and steadfast strength of women throughout human history.
