TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – Taiwan opened a tourism information service center in the Philippine capital Manila on Friday.
The office in the city’s business district of Makati is designed to boost tourism from Taiwan’s southern neighbor. According to the Tourism Administration, over 370,000 Filipino tourists visited Taiwan from January to October, a 35% increase over the same period in 2023.
In addition to activities targeting the public, the center also intends to host talks between tour operators from both countries as well as language courses and workshops, per CNA. The Tourism Administration plans a promotional campaign for next year which would involve TV, social media, and public transport.
The visa waiver introduced in 2017 that allows Filipino travelers to stay in Taiwan for 14 days is likely to be extended next year, according to the Taiwan office in Manila.
In 2025, 500,000 tourists from the Philippines are expected to visit Taiwan. At the opening of the tourism information center, personalities from the travel sector praised Taiwan’s food, shopping opportunities, and scenery.
