TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Cabinet presented this year's National Sustainable Development Awards to National Taiwan University of Science and Technology and Taipei Medical University on Thursday.

He said the university aims to achieve 50% carbon neutrality by 2030 and 100% by 2049, per CNA.
Yen said the school reduced its campus carbon footprint by 218,913 kilograms last year. Also, 96.75% of the equipment the university purchased last year was eco-friendly.
He added the university has upgraded high-voltage power equipment, air conditioning systems, and integrated remote control and sensor technology to reduce energy consumption.
Taipei Medical University said it was using energy-efficient equipment, installing solar power systems, and implementing intelligent energy management. The university said it conducts carbon inventories to achieve its net-zero emissions goal.
The Taipei Medical University Hospital-Shuang Ho also won an award. Cheng I-chun (程毅君), the hospital's director, said it developed four eco-friendly products, such as turning discarded medication bottles into trash bags, and recycling medical waste plastic into sharps disposal containers.
